Just in time for Christmas

I’m Czech and we spend basically entire December baking Christmas cookies and chasing our family away from the boxes full of those cookies… then Christmas comes and we are chasing everybody with plates full of cookies, making them eat it😂😂😂. I know, crazy. But we love it.

One of my favorite cookies are Gingerbread cookies. My auntie is the best when it comes to those. Hers are delicious and also absolutely gorgeous because she sure knows how to decorate them I don’t decorate mine cause I am not that good. To be honest, mine look like a 3 year old got hold of the frosting. I kid you not. But they are delicious and people always ask for more and ask for recipe.

I have tweaked the recipe using my beloved Young Living Essential oils. No need storing the spices anymore. So simple. I use Thieves EO and Ginger EO from the Vitality line (it’s marked for internal use). These oils are absolutely fantastic for our bodies and they taste great too

So here is my Thieves Gingerbread Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

250 g of All Purpose Flour

125 g of brown sugar

65 g of honey

1 large egg or 2 small ones

1/2 teaspoon of baking Soda

4 drops of Thieves Vitality Essential Oil

2 drops of Ginger Vitality Essential oil

1 extra egg, whisked, for eggwash

Method

Mix everything together very well and let the dough rest for about 12 h ( can be in the fridge up to 1 week).

Dust your working space and roll it out, cut your shapes as desired. Preheat oven to about 250C and bake on high for about 5-6 min till brown. When you remove them from the oven, rub it with egg wash right away. It will get the cookies nice and glossy.

Sometimes I like to use this Easy Bake Cookie Cutting sheet. It cooks 24 cookies at once, so it’s super easy and efficient. You can find it on Amazon.

Laundry Much???

I don’t always do laundry but when I do…. oh who am I kidding? I do laundry ALL THE TIME! Family of three, nine year old kid, there is always laundry!

But did you know that how you wash your clothes, what’s in your laundry detergent, influences your health? Your detergent might smell amazing, but it might be the reason why your skin is irritated. Fragrances, preservatives, dyes, and other chemicals in laundry detergent can cause rashes in both children and adults. Laundry detergents contain lots of potentially irritating ingredients. And because your entire body comes in contact with your laundry, you can have reaction all over. Hmmm. Not me. Why?

Few years back I decided to be more careful what I use for our family. As a mother and wife, it is my responsibility to choose the right products we use at home. And I take it seriously.

So I decided to join Young Living Company and go as much toxic chemicals free as possible. No fabric softener and “clean” Laundry soap was part of the whole Ditch&Switch process.

Watch video how I made my Laundry Soap and Stain Remover Spray and recipes are below

https://youtu.be/ynbNKci2r7c

Today I would like to share my recipe for Stain Spray and Liquid Laundry Detergent. Not only both of them are non toxic, they are also very effective, can be done in a minute and very cost effective. Instead of Fabric softener, I add white vinegar to my load and use Wool Dryer Balls with Essential oils for beautiful smell.

Stain Spray

Ingredients

100 ml of peroxide

50 ml of Thieves Dish Soap

1 capful of Thieves Household Cleaner.

Mix together in sprayer bottle and use as needed. When spraying the stain, let it work for about 2-3 min before you wash.

Cost breakdown

Peroxide 99¥, Thieves Dish Soap 292 and 52¥ for Thieves Household Cleaner. So your amazingly smelling, non toxic stain spray costs you 443¥ !!! That’s nothing comparing to about 1300¥ for store bought stain removers that are full of dangerous ingredients.

(500 ml of peroxide costs 494¥, Thieves Dish soap costs 2133¥ for 365 ml and Thieves Household Cleaner costs 3402¥ for 426 ml)

Laundry Detergent

Ingredients

1/4 cup of washing Soda

1/4 cup of baking Soda

3.5 l of hot water

1/4 cup of Thieves Laundry Soap

2 capfuls of Thieves Household cleaner

First, dissolve the washing soda and the baking soda in the hot water. Mix well. Then add the Thieves Laundry Soap and Thieves Household Cleaner and again moc well. Voila, your detergent is ready!

Cost breakdown

Washing soda 68¥, Baking Soda 15¥, Thieves Laundry Soap 588¥ and Thieves Household Cleaner is 104¥. Making this 775 per 3.5 l of detergent. It makes 27¥ per load if I use approx 1/4 cup of the mixture!!!

(Washing soda costs 990¥ per 726 g, Baking Soda is 1858 per 6 kg, Thieves Laundry Soap is 4455¥ per 946 ml, Thieves Household Cleaner is 3402¥ for 426 ml.

Oh Skin So Smooth

We all know that amazing feeling after Spa treatment when your skin feels and smells so good, you just want to keep sniffing your own arms😂😂😂

I love to replicate that feeling as much as possible so I create my own skin products from the finest ingredients. Only the best, right? Body Butter is one of my specialities. I have been hunting for the perfect texture for a while now. And I finally achieved it. That merengue like texture that stays soft even when it gets colder. So what did I use?

The ingredients are simple but bare in mind my recipe makes about ten 200 ml jars of Body Butter so if you’re making just for yourself, you have to do the math. But why not give Oily gifts to your loved ones instead of buying things from stores?

Smooth Skin Body Butter

500 g of Pure Shea Butter

250 g of Organic Coconut Oil

200 ml of Pure Jojoba Oil

30 drops of Young Living Lavender Essential Oil

30 drops of Young Living Elemi Essential Oil

In a double boiler, first melt the Shea Butter as that takes the longest. Once almost melted, add the Coconut oil. When completely melted, take off the double boiler and add the Jojoba Oil. Mix well together so the ingredients combine

Let it harden. This was a challenge this time around because even though it’s November, the day was very warm and my mixture was not getting hard enough even hours after. I had to remove few things from my fridge and put the bowl there.

Once your mixture hardens, start whipping, using a mixer. I love my Kitchen Aid, because it does the job perfectly and I don’t have to hold it.

Getting the right stiffness of the mixture before you start whipping is crucial. If you let it harden too much, it won’t be smooth enough. Trust me, I’ve made that mistake once or twice.

At this point, add your essential oils. This time I chose Lavender and Elemi. At the end of this post I will explain why I chose these two oils.

placeholder://

After you added the essential oils, keep whipping for about 3-4 min. Scrape the sides of the bowl and whip some more. You want thick, smooth texture. Transfer in sterilized jars and close the lids.

So why did I use Lavender and Elemi Essential oils?

I love Lavender for my skin. It is very calming and has amazing scent. Not only that, it has proven antimicrobial properties, meaning it helps to prevent bacteria and fungi to grow. So when applied on skin, it helps with itchiness and may prevent infections. It is also used as a home remedy for burns and skin inflammation. I use Lavender after sun exposure because it helps my skin to recover. And I always have it handy when I’m ironing😜. Lavender helps with many different skin issues and is baby friendly, so you can use it for whole family.

Elemi is another very calming, beautifully smelling oil. It has great healing properties. When diffused, it helps relieve stress and anxiety. Using Elemi helps boost immunity system and supports respiratory health. For skin, it has calming and healing effects and acts as a tonic for our body.

So combination of these two essential oils in this Butter butter makes a beautiful, calming mixture.

Naturally, I only use and recommend Young Living Essential oils. I made a blog post about it so you can read it or send me a message and I’ll explain the Why’s

For The Love Of Salads

I love food, there is no doubt about it. I often wake up with something particular on my mind and I rush to the kitchen to make it.

That day I woke up wanting salad. But not just any salad. I knew I wanted cauliflower in it for the crunchiness and coriander avocado combo for the flavor. Hmmmm, what dressing? My eyes fell on some grapefruits and I knew what I’m gonna make!

So I grabbed all the ingredients (half an iceberg lettuce, cucumber, mixed salad leaves, coriander, avocado, few tomatoes and 1/4 cauliflower and just chopped it all

Putting everything in a bowl and setting aside, I got on making the dressing

In a separate bowl I mashed together slice of red and white grapefruit and few cubes of pineapple with spoon of olive oil.

I mashed it really well to get as much juice out of it as possible, then added 1 drop of Young Living Black Pepper Essential oil and 2 drops of Young Living Lime Essential Oil.

I love adding Essential oils to my food. They taste great and give my food extra layer of flavors. I could have used Grapefruit Essential oil instead of the fruit but I wanted the juice as well, not just the flavor, so this time I opted using the fruit. Also, I bought precut fruit bowl and I wanted to use it up.

Adding Essential Oils to food has many benefits, it has amazing flavor but also benefits our digestion. I love the flavor of Black Pepper Essential oil. It’s my go to for most of my dressings.

After mixing it really well together, I added some salt and poured it over the salad, tossing all together.

And then I just sat in my garden and enjoyed the beautiful weather and delicious salad. Oh yum!

It’s Lip Balm Time Of The Year

With fall comes the crisp air, wind and cracked, dry lips. We all love having soft lips though, right? So we run to first drugstore to buy lip balm. Some are better than others but the best is the one you make yourself. Why?

Many store bought lip balms contain irritants and basically the more we put on, the less luscious our lips feel. Some of these ingredients can also cause inflammation and dehydration of the lips. We definitely do not want that.

So best to make it yourself so you know what you put in. For added flavor and benefits, I add Essential oils. For my newest batch of lip balms, I used Spearmint Essential oil. I love the smell, the taste and how it naturally plumps the lips. Before, I used Orange and Frankincense, both were yummy. It is really up to you what oil you use.

I use beeswax in my recipe so I am well aware it is not vegan, I would love to hear your tried vegan recipe too! Please do share with me.

Here is my recipe

Ingredients

1.5 tbsp of Beeswax

2 tbsp of organic coconut oil

2 tbsp of coconut butter

15 drops of Spearmint Essential oil

This will make about 9 or 10 lip balms.

Method

First of all, prepare your lip balm containers next to your stove. On a double boiler, start melting the beeswax.

It takes the longest. Once almost melted, add the coconut oil and cocoa butter and melt completely.

Remove from heat and quickly add the essential oils, mix together and pour into the containers. You really need to act quickly as the lip balms start to set.

I like using glass measure cup in the double boiler, because it’s easy to pour from it. This is very simple, failproof recipe. Even my 9 yo son was able to make it by himself! So it gives you great activity with kids. They will love making their own lip balm and will be more willing to use it. Or gift it to family and friends!

You know I love using Young Living Essential oils only. I have my reasons why I only trust this company. If you would love e to learn more, you can get in touch with me through this page and I’ll be very happy to explain.
